Light, and more of it
The cabinetry was kept white and the upper run partially replaced with open shelving, which keeps the wall from closing in on a room that only has windows on one side.
Kitchen and bath together
Running both rooms as one job meant a single set of plumbing and electrical inspections instead of two, and one stretch of disruption for the household rather than two separate ones months apart.
